Clayton & Shuttleworth 12nhp portable engine - stock code 7008

A 12nhp Clayton & Shuttleworth portable engine, works number 45269 of 1912 - built not ten miles from our workshop, 104 years ago. An older restoration, the engine hadn't been steamed in some years when it arrived with us - from the thickness readings we've taken the boiler is in good order, with some stay wastage noted on older reports which doesn't apppear to have got any worse whilst it's been in storage. We steamed it a couple of days before our open day to check it over, it ran all day last Saturday alongside our Fowler roller - a couple of pallets and a bag of coal got it in steam, it then sat and ticked over quietly all day on various scraps of fence post we'd cut up for lighting up on the road engines.

Other than some modification to the boiler feed pump - we suspect to repair a fractured valve box - and the fitting of a Sentinel mechanical lubricator, the engine is in good, original condition.

There's some video of it running in the yard prior to the open day here.
