|5 inch gauge Southern L1 4-4-0 - stock code 7154|
A well-built 5 inch gauge "Maid of Kent", turned out in Southern Railway L1 guise, nicely painted and lined.
Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, four element radiant superheaters. Feed by mechanical pump and injector (which has a mind of its own) with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Joy valve gear, pole reverser in cab, mechanical lubricator.
Runs very well - regular readers will know my enthusiasm both for MoKs (one of LBSC's best ever designs in my opinion) and inside cylinder engines, which always seem to run particularly smoothly.
There's a super video of the engine running at Leyland last year here, another of Lee Sutherland's super videos, used with his kind permission.
